I read the "Cursed Child," this week, which was adapted from a play. I enjoyed it, it read like a play. It had all the stage directions, and the characters to which the lines were assigned were present. Though I liked the book, it felt like it wasn't as richly written as JK Rowling's other Harry Potter novels were. I suppose this make sense since it was a play, and you are supposed to get the richness from the visuals.
ReplyDeleteI liked the idea of the book -- that was finding out what has happened since Dumbledore's Army prevailed over Voldermont. I liked knowing where the characters we loved from the original series ended up, and I liked the two new main characters, Albus and Scorpious. It almost felt more like a prologue to the last book, where you learn what happened and what could have happened if things had worked out in different ways. It was a little hard imagining Harry as an adult with children, but I feel like that was a minor strike against the book. Overall, it was a good read and I would recommend it to other HP fans!

I read the book "The Phantom Tollbooth". I really liked it! It was about a normal boy named Milo who is living a normal life. Then the Phantom Tollbooth shows up in his room. He uses the tollbooth like it was normal, but it wasn't. It took him on an adventure throughout the Lands Beyond Here, he meets many strange creatures, kings, princesses, friends enemies, etc. This book was fast moving and exciting. I would definitely recommend it.
