I read the book "Tasting the Sky" by Ibtisam Barakat. It is about a girl who just wants her and her family to stay safe. From the main character's point of view, the events in this story are horrific, where from the parents' point of view, some of them are normal. Overall, I think that this book is very hard to read. It can be sad and disturbing. Aside from that, I really liked it. I would recommend this book unless the disturbing parts and sadness bothers you.
ReplyDeleteI read Shooting Kabul by H. N. Senzai. It is about a family who lived in Afghanistan, and have to flee the Taliban. They escape to Pakistan, and in the process, the main character loses his sister. They travel to America. Throughout their learning how to live in this new country, they also struggle with how to find their youngest back in their old country. I would recommend it.
ReplyDeleteI read Nnewts. It's a graphic novel about a little newt who can't use his legs. It can be pretty sad and there is a fair amount of blood and gore. I'd it's not for the faint hearted.
