Introduction

Welcome to Mrs. Williams's Reading Challenge 2017

I believe that the more we read, the better we understand the world.  The problem is, we can all get stuck in reading ruts.  Sometimes, I might just read books about Global Warming, and then, well it's all gloom and doom, and nobody better leave on any lights.  It's good to have a balance, and to gain perspective.

Sometimes, we all need a push into different genres of reading.  Here, in this challenge, I will encourage you to try different materials.  Yes, there is a standard / proficiency for this, but you won't necessarily be "graded."  It's a way to push yourself into reading books you wouldn't normally pick up.  You may be surprised by what you learn.  NOTE:  You must start these in 2017, they cannot be past reads!

You can use this blog to include your reading plan, write about what you are reading, discuss the different genres, and find / write recommendations.

If you are in my LA class, you are expected to read at least 2 books per month (one in class, one out of class).  You could challenge yourself to read more.  This challenge assumes you will read 3 books per month, including the in class book.  There are extras in the "Ultimate Challenge" category.  I hope you will find books that challenge you and shift your view of the world, even if just a little bit.
